Tjarda

Tjarda is a powerful bellydancer with a unique approach to Tribal Fusion.

Next to exploring middle eastern dance, Tjarda has studied many other genres. Ranging from modern dance, flamenco and mime to dance therapy and improvised movement.

Fusing all of the above with her natural creativity, Tjarda delivers progressive choreography. Pieces of personal expression, resonating within a world wide culture of movement.

Performances
Because of her unique mesmerizing performances, which consist of choreographies and freestyle, she is now collaborating with a lot of different DJ’s and dance-events. Tjarda has already succesfully performed at Sziget Festival, Robodock (LHPO), Mystic Grooves, Mysteryland, Project Mayhem, In Full Swing, Jazz in Duketown, Supperclub, De Parade, Nataraj, Paradiso, Melkweg, etc.

The Uzumé
In 2005 Tjarda became a founding member and choreographer of The Uzumé, they began as the first company in the Netherlands representing Tribal Fusion Bellydance. The Uzumé already won several prices with their innovative choreographies, one for Best Dance Company - Cross-Over Oriental Choreography.

Currently Tjarda is studying at the school for International Dance / Worlddance in Rotterdam. She is now teaching weekly classes in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam. She also teaches workshops in the Netherlands and throughout Europe.

The Uzumé

The Uzumé is an alternative style of bellydance company with an unique approach to bellydance. Next to their exploration of middle eastern dance the dancers have also studied a lot of different dance forms which made them step outside the genre of traditional middle eastern dance and look into these other dance forms for fusion ideas.



They now creatively use and combine many traditional influences and elements with their own personal expression creating innovative and progressive pieces that reflect en inspire today’s culture.

The Uzumé is well-known for their innovative choreographic style and their charismatic stage presence. They already won several prices with their innovative choreographies, one for Best Dance Company - Cross-Over Oriental Choreography. The Uzumé does both choreographed and freestyle performances to electronic beats of the global underground mixed with traditional music. Late 2007, they successfully produced "Worlddance Con Fusion", their first theatre show. They are now teaching and performing throughout Europe. These girls ROCK!!
